Proposal Photography

The moment that starts everything.

You have one chance to propose. We make sure the images from that moment are as extraordinary as the moment itself. From a private mountain summit at sunrise to the terrace of a luxury resort at golden hour, we plan and photograph proposals that neither of you will ever forget.

What we do

A proposal worth photographing deserves photographers who treat it as seriously as you do.

Most proposal photography is reactive. A photographer hides behind a bush and hopes to get a clean shot before the couple moves. That is not what we do.

We plan the moment with you. We scout the location. We identify exactly where to be and when. We are invisible until the moment happens, and then we are exactly where we need to be. The images look like nothing was staged because nothing was, except our position.

The result is a set of photographs that captures what the moment actually felt like, from the ring coming out to the embrace after, in a location that makes the images look as significant as the decision itself.

The locations

Where we do this work.

01

Mountain summits at sunrise

We have guided couples up trails in the dark so they could propose at the exact moment the sun clears the ridge. There is nothing quite like the light at 6am on a mountain summit, and there is nothing quite like proposing inside it. We know the Adirondacks and the surrounding region deeply, and we have scouted every summit worth proposing on.

Adirondacks · Catskills · White Mountains · Custom locations

02

Luxury resorts and private estates

A private terrace at sunset. A garden that looks like it was designed for exactly this moment. A suite with a view that makes the backdrop as remarkable as the occasion. We work directly with resort and estate staff to coordinate access, timing, and logistics so that the moment unfolds exactly as you planned it.

Resort coordination · Private access · Champagne logistics · Florals

03

Helicopter-accessed locations

Some of the most extraordinary places on earth are only reachable by air. A glacier. A remote alpine ridge. A volcanic crater. A coastline with no road access. If you want to propose somewhere that almost no one has ever stood, we can help you plan that. We have experience coordinating with charter operators and can help identify locations that match your vision.

Charter coordination · Remote access · Custom scouting

04

Destination proposals

The Amalfi Coast. The Dolomites. Paris. Iceland. Santorini. Some couples plan a trip and build the proposal into it. Some build the trip around the proposal. Either way, we can travel with you, or meet you there. We have photographed proposals in multiple countries and know how to plan for logistics, light, and language barriers.

The process

How we turn your vision into something that actually works.

01

Vision and location consultation

We start by understanding what you want the moment to feel like. The location, the time of day, whether you want grandeur or intimacy, what your partner responds to. From that conversation we build a plan.

02

Location scouting and timing

We scout your location personally or remotely depending on distance, identifying the exact spot, the ideal angle, and the precise time of day when the light is best. The difference between a good proposal photo and an extraordinary one is usually the twenty minutes we spend figuring out where to be before you arrive.

03

Logistics coordination

Permits, resort staff coordination, florals, champagne, helicopter charters, weather contingencies. Whatever the proposal requires, we handle the coordination so you can focus on being present when it happens.

04

Day-of positioning

We arrive before you do. We are in position before your partner has any reason to wonder what is happening. We stay invisible until the moment, then we photograph everything: the ring coming out, the reaction, the embrace, the first minutes after. All of it.

05

Engagement portraits

Once the proposal moment is documented, we transition into a short portrait session with both of you. The light is right, the location is extraordinary, and you are both in a state of genuine emotion that produces the kind of photographs that do not look like they were staged. Because they were not.

Our approach

The proposal photograph is the first image in the story of your marriage.

Most proposal photos capture the logistics of a moment. Someone is kneeling. Someone else is covering their mouth. The ring is there. You can tell what happened.

What we are after is different. We are after the weight of what is actually happening: the moment a person decides to ask the most important question of their life, and the moment another person answers it. That is not a logistical event. It is one of the most charged emotional moments two people can share. It deserves to be photographed like one.

“The images should make anyone who sees them understand exactly what that moment felt like.”

From the first conversation, they understood exactly what I was trying to create. The planning was seamless, the coordination was invisible, and when I saw the photographs I completely lost it. She has no idea how any of it came together. Neither do I, honestly.

Investment

Proposal collections are custom-priced around what yours actually requires.

A mountaintop sunrise proposal and a helicopter-accessed glacier proposal require completely different levels of planning, logistics, and time. We do not fit either into a standard package.

Local and regional proposal collections begin at $2,400 for hidden coverage and a short portrait session. Proposals requiring significant logistics coordination, travel, or destination scouting are quoted individually. We are transparent about what everything costs and why.

Most couples who book a proposal session with us go on to book their wedding or elopement photography as well. If you are interested in discussing that, we are happy to talk about both together.

What comes next

If you love the location you propose in, you might want to get married there too.

A significant number of the proposals we photograph turn into elopements at the same location, or in the same region. Couples discover that the place they chose for the most important question of their life feels like the right place for the ceremony as well.

We offer a seamless path from proposal to elopement photography. If you are open to that conversation, bring it up when you reach out. We will tell you honestly whether the location and timing make sense.
